Media Round-up

This week, some really talented people have put together a couple of great press pieces for the New Image Sculpture exhibition.
The first is a video by Mark and Angela Walley down in San Antonio:

(if you look close, you can see my pops in there helping me out!)

The second is a Podcast interview by Thomas Seely on BreakThruradio.com:

New Image Sculpture

This is the installation I've been working on for a group exhibition at the McNay Museum
in San Antonio, Texas. It opens on February 16th and runs until May 8th. It's a pretty great show with great artists and San Antonio is an incredible city with incredible people. If you've never been down here, I'd highly recommend a visit. Scroll down to see a video that walks you through my piece, 'An Allegory of Taste: Between Here and There'.

Book!

The 13 artists and artist collectives in New Image Sculpture create unique visions of the world we encounter on a daily basis. Regardless of what they make or how they make it, in the end these artists transform ordinary stuff into objects of extraordinary engagement.

A full-color, 128-page book surveying the work of these artists, with text by the exhibition’s organizer RenĂ© Paul Barilleaux and critic Eleanor Heartney, accompanies the New Image Sculpture exhibition.

I'm really honored to be included in this exhibition with such great artists. I can't post the whole book, so here is a Jade-centric sample:

out the door....

The King and Kitty Joe.

Here are some last minute snapshots of some other elements of the installation headed down to San Antonio. The work is all packed up and currently en route to the McNay. I'm pretty excited to have the week off before I follow it down there on Sunday to begin the install (which i'm also super excited about). Need a little R&R. This 4am to 4pm studio schedule is wearing me down.

snapshots from miami

Photo from #Rank just about says it all. Oh Art Basel Miami, why do you try to suck me soulless and skeeve me out so....

The one, the only, Doug McQueen helps to keep the soul intact.

Last week I showed you images of the great thanksgiving aluminum pour upstate. Here you can see some (albeit crappy) images of the finished product, installed at Priska Juschka's booth at Pulse Miami. I'll post better images of this soon and we're still processing the photos from the upstate pour which i will post later in the week.

75lbs of Aluminum! yikes!

I don't care about your lame Art party or who is going to be there. I'll be at the beach.

Flying out of Miami pretty much feels like this. Glad to be back in the studio. Back to work.
